Harvey Dean Red Eagle, age 39, went
home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2008 at the Billings Deaconess Hospital
after a long illness. Harvey passed away at 7:20 p.m. with his parents, Elmer
Sterling Red Eagle, Sr. and DeLoris Kirn Red Eagle at his side.
Harvey was born December 13, 1968 to
Elmer Sterling and DeLoris Kirn Red Eagle at the Poplar Community Hospital in
Poplar, MT. Harvey attended schools in Poplar and Flandreau, SD. He also
attended the Job Corps in the Black Hills by Rapid City, SD. He later went to
the Job Corps in the State of Utah where he earned his certificate in auto
mechanics which he specialized in. He lived in Poplar where he worked at
various jobs throughout his life, but most of all he enjoyed working on cars and
making them run. He liked spending time with friends, telling stories and just
laughing and having a good time.
Harvey met Eva Crowe, his longtime
mate, and from this they had three children: Teddy, Deanna and Francis, by whom
he is survived. He is also survived by his parents, Elmer Sterling and DeLoris
Kirn Red Eagle; his brothers, Elmer S. Red Eagle, Jr. of Coloman, FL, Jerome P.
Red Eagle of Denver, CO, and legally adopted brother, Paul D. Merri Lee Belt Red
Eagle of Poplar; sisters, La Wanda D. “Dan” Jeffery of Rapid City, SD, Mayme Ida
Red Eagle (Kenneth Ayers) of Poplar.
Harvey’s Paternal Grandparents are
the late Sterling E. Red Eagle and Mayme Ida Red Feather Red Eagle. His
Maternal Grandparents were Leslie C. Kirn and Esther Yellow Owl King.
Harvey will be greatly
missed by his nieces and nephews, Tiffany, Brittany, Alicia, Jasmine, Aaron, Lil’
Darrell, Duran, Marcus and Christopher. Harvey also had a longtime companion,
Tanya GreyBear, who preceded him in death. They were together through thick and
thin. On both Maternal, Dora Youngman-Yellowowl and Jim Yellowowl, and
Paternal, Elmer Red Eagle and Mary Small Red Eagle, there are too numerous of
relatives to mention. Harvey loved and cared about every one. He was a very
giving person and would go out of his way to make everyone he cared about
happy. He will be missed by all.
