Mildred Anna Waldie, age 89 of Miles City, Montana passed away on Monday, May 26, 2008 at the family ranch on Moon Creek southwest of Miles City.

     Mildred was born on July 3, 1918 at Kipling, Saskatchewan, Canada the daughter of Arthur John and Mary Rena (Larson) Ferch. She attended West Fargo Elementary School and graduated from Moorhead High School. Mildred then attended North Dakota State College where she earned her degree in teaching and was a member of the Honorary History Fraternity. Mildred taught high school at Dickey, North Dakota and this is where she met Ervin Waldie. The couple was married on September 11, 1943 in West Fargo, North Dakota. She then taught school at Scoria Butte in North Dakota.

      The family moved to Montana in 1959 where they purchased a ranch on Moon Creek southwest of Miles City and Mildred began teaching at the Six Mile School and then at the Moon Creek School. After her retirement, she began helping out full time on the family ranch on the Tongue River and again at the Moon Creek Ranch. After Ervin passed away in 2002 Mildred has continued to live on the family ranch.

      Mildred is survived by two sons; Gregory L. and wife Pat of Dickey, ND, and Charles E. of Miles City, MT, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two sisters; Lois Hink and husband Wayne of Lewistown, MT and Shirley Studebaker of Uma, AZ. She was preceded in death by Ervin her husband of 59 years, a son Kent in 1959, a brother, Russell in 1980 and a sister, Lillian Holmgren in 1996.

      A Prayer service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Grace Bible Church in Miles City. Interment will be held at a later date.
