The history of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Homes, est. in 1967

The Stevenson family is truly at the heart of the history of the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home.  Throughout the years, our family has maintained a standard of personal care and service that stems from the values within our own homes.   Stevenson & Son's Funeral Homes  is a family owned and operated establishment since 1967   . Founded by Dale Stevenson, after serving the community for over thirty years Dale turned business over to the next generation, his three sons.  Stevenson & Sons Funeral Homes is now owned by Joe and Todd Stevenson, serving Eastern Montana. Joe and Todd's brother Jon owns and operates a funeral home in Dickinson, ND with chapels in Baker and Ekalaka.
We have been a family of funeral service. The Stevenson Family and staff are firmly committed to relieving the stress, and easing the burden of grief of the families who depend on us, regardless of race, religion, or financial status. We offer guidance and support, as long and often, as you need us. We've carried on this commitment of family service and counseling for over two generations, and we extend this service to every family from ten convenient locations. Our mortuaries are located in Miles City, Forsyth, Jordan, Terry, Broadus, Wolf Point, Poplar, Circle, Culbertson and Gillette, WY.

The History of Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel, est. in May of 2003

The Clayton Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point was founded in 1916 by Lyman M. Clayton, Sr.  In 1939, Lyman M. Clayton, Jr. became affiliated with his father as a partner.  Lyman Jr. and his father exercised their first move toward expansion beyond Wolf Point in the 1941, with the purchase of the Walker Funeral Home in Poplar from J. Harry Walker.  Mr. Walker continued to manage the Poplar facility and in 1955 when Mr. Clayton, Jr.  built a new chapel at that location, it was dedicated to his late father and to Mr. walker.  Lyman Jr. became sole owner upon the death of his father in 1945.  In 1957, Lyman Clayton Jr. purchased the property ..............John Listerud home built in 1917.  He remodeled the building and dedicated it to his parents.  A new chapel and additional facilities were built at that location in 1967, thus beginning the second 50 years of funeral service by the Clayton family in Roosevelt County and Wolf Point.
That same year, Mr. Clayton opened a visitation chapel at the Circle and the facility at Culbertson with Mr.. Everson.  In time, Mr. Clayton Jr., was joined in the business by his son, Lyman M. "Skip" Clayton III, who purchased the business from him in 1983.  Over the years of change and growth, the Clayton family expanded and remodeled its location in Wolf point and has locations opened in Poplar, Circle and Culbertson, MT the latter in partnership with George Everson, a funeral director in Williston, ND.  In May of 2003, Stevenson and Sons of Miles City, purchased Clayton Memorial Chapel, with the name changing to Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel.  We look forward to serving the Wolf Point, Poplar, Circle and Culbertson areas, and hope to carry on the Clayton tradition of exceptional service and dedication.
